Digitization of a physical museum into a virtual 3D environment
The Automation Museum features over 700 different museum pieces related to automation, spanning from the 1940s to the present day. The museum includes various devices such as indicator instruments, pressure gauges, current transformers, pyrometers, rotameters, tachometers, pressure relief valves, recorders, temperature controllers, water meters, and more, all from different operators in Finland.
The physical pieces of the museum, located in Valmet's facilities in Tampere, were decided to be transformed into a virtual 3D format so that people can explore them from anywhere in the world. We 3D scanned nearly all of the museum's automation devices. The scanned 3D models on the website are an effective way to showcase and market physical products. Instead of just an image or video, the viewer can engage with the product in a more in-depth way. The 3D models can be easily integrated into websites, such as WordPress, using free plugins.
